Betuwe Line escape doors (The Netherlands)

Escape doors meeting the following specific requirements had to be installed in the sound-reducing screen on the Betuwe Goods Transport Line:

• 10-year warranty period
• service life of 50 years
• robust design
• high load-bearing capacity
• low maintenance
• design in accordance with the shape of the screen


Merford specially developed an escape door meeting all the above requirements. This door follows the curved profile of the concrete sound-reducing screen to form an aesthetic whole. Altogether Merford manufactured, supplied and installed 765 of these escape doors.
